ABOUT SHUTO
From Nagasaki
to California.
A love of basketball brought me here. Helping others find their own possibilities keeps me moving forward.
SHUTO HABU · 埴生 秀人
I was born and raised in Nagasaki, Japan, where I lived until I was 18. I’ve played basketball since age seven, and growing up as a Lakers and Kobe Bryant fan sparked an early connection to California.
In 2018, I first came to the U.S. to study English at Kings Education in Hollywood. I fell in love with the weather, people, and cultural diversity. After a three-month internship at Bright Horizon International in Torrance, I went on to earn a master’s degree in theology at Rochester University, where I also worked as an Administrative Assistant.
Today, I support international students at AOI College of Languages and serve as Admissions Director at Mack Attack Prep and CMI Global Athletics. My goal is to help students and athletes explore opportunities in the U.S., with basketball at the heart of my work and a growing interest in other sports.
Since 2025, I’ve served as President of LA Nagasaki-kai. Through gatherings and events, I help keep our connection to my hometown alive in Southern California.
